Autobody Repair Apprentice
Job Summary
The Autobody Repair Apprentice assists experienced autobody technicians in repairing and restoring damaged vehicles while learning the skills and techniques required to become a certified autobody repair technician. This entry-level position provides hands-on training in vehicle repair, refinishing preparation, and shop safety while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist technicians with vehicle disassembly and reassembly.
- Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, grinding, masking, and cleaning prior to repairs and painting.
- Learn to repair dents, replace damaged panels, and perform basic bodywork under supervision.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
- Inspect tools and equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Assist with moving vehicles and organizing parts.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repair progress.
- Participate in on-the-job training and complete assigned learning objectives.
- Cleaning and detailing vehicles upon repair completion.
- Assist Body Techs and estimators with blue printing repairs.
- Complete pre and post scans on vehicles prior to repairs and at conclusion of repairs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Interest in automotive collision repair and refinishing.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, and work in a physically demanding environment for extended periods.
- Prior experience in the automotive collision center, and autobody schooling is preferred.

Work Environment
- Automotive collision repair shop.
- Exposure to dust, paint materials, noise, and shop equipment.
