Behavioral Health Counseling Intern

Charter Oak is accepting applications until February 16, 2024, for Spring semester internships and practicums for students entering the counseling profession who are seeking experience with screenings, assessments, counseling, group work, documentation, referrals, case management, and discharge planning.

The Intern will have the opportunity to learn and grow as behavioral health interns while providing direct clinical care to patients.

• Actively participating in staff meetings/trainings
• Providing individual & group therapy and participating in family therapeutic meetings, when indicated
• Carrying a caseload or shared caseload and facilitating discharge planning, when indicated
• Other responsibilities as needed, to be determined by the Director of Social Work.

Experience and Skills:

• Problem solving skills and flexibility
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and currently enrolled in a graduate program in Mental Health Counseling, Substance Use Counseling, or related field
• Coursework in psychology, counseling, or social work

Availability Requirements:

• Must be available during hours of 8:30am-5pm

Preference will be given to students attending the University of Connecticut and Central Connecticut State University with whom Charter Oak has active Affiliation Agreements.
