Job Description - Business Development Engineering Intern - Summer 2026

We are seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern to support our Defense Department go-to-market efforts. The intern will work directly with our strategy and business development team to research, map, and engage opportunities across the U.S. Department of Defense, with an emphasis on autonomy, robotics, and dual-use space applications. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of defense applications or procurement and an interest in advanced technology markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market and stakeholder research to identify key DoD programs, offices, and mission needs aligned with Lunar Outpost’s capabilities

  • Assist in developing go-to-market strategies for autonomous robotics within the DoD

  • Support proposal preparation, white paper development, and submission to SBIR/STTR and other federal opportunities

  • Draft outreach materials, capability briefs, and executive summaries

  • Track and analyze relevant RFI/RFPs, funding announcements, and congressional activity

  • Support strategic engagement planning with defense primes, labs, and contracting offices

  • Attend meetings (virtual or in-person) and take detailed notes, providing strategic readouts to the team

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate or upper-level undergraduate program in engineering, public policy, national security, or business

  • Strong demonstrated understanding of US defense and national security markets, particularly related to autonomy and robotics

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical and research capabilities

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

  • Familiarity with DoD procurement pathways (e.g., SBIR, OTAs, FAR-based contracting) is a plus

  • Prior military service or experience working with the DoD is strongly preferred but not required

  • Security clearance not required, but the ability to work with sensitive but unclassified material is expected

Mid-May (May 18, 2026) to early August (August 7, 2026). Start and end dates are flexible with the intern's school schedule. In-person, Monday - Friday in Arvada, Colorado.
