Purpose of the Carpenter/Shop Assistant Summer Internship

As a high school student that is 18 years old you can join our team for our 6-week internship program (June 16-Aug 1). As a Carpenter/Shop Assistant Intern you will be learning the construction trade from Lead Carpenters as well as assisting the Shop Manager with acquiring materials and shop organizing. You will gain professional experience in the construction industry and knowledge of other career paths in the construction industry with John Grace. 

We are looking for someone who

• Has a positive attitude with a desire to learn; adaptable to the needs of the organization, including cross- departmental training when needed.


• Takes pride in their work.


• Reports to work on time.


• Is Professional, following company-provided dress code and maintains good personal hygiene.


• Available to work June 16-August 1, M-F, 40 hours a week

Key responsibilities and duties

• Work alongside the shop manager to help with shop maintenance/organizing and cleaning equipment and loading/unloading equipment.


• Work alongside Lead Carpenters on job sites learning different skills from making accurate measurements and cuts, bathroom + kitchen remodels etc. 


• Job shadow leads from each department to learn their area of responsibilities to grow your skills.
