Summary:

The Center for Language Exploration, Acquisition, and Research (CLEAR) Language coaches help AU Students currently enrolled in a World Languages skills course at American University to develop their world languages skills. CLEAR coaches are native speakers of the languages taught on campus. Depending on the number of students taking any one language on a given semester, individual language coaching teams can contain as many as 5 people or as few as 1 person.

Essential Functions:

• Help students develop their world language skills.

• Other duties assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Part-time.

• 8 hours per week.

Salary Range:

• $17.95 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

• Be a native or highly fluent speaker of the language you intend to coach.

• Familiarity with the grammar structure and vocabulary of the language, and the ability to communicate this knowledge with others is necessary.

• Candidates will be tested to assess their grammatical, oral, and writing skills in the target language and must be vetted by faculty in their intended language program.

• Punctuality and reliability are essential.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Previous experience with teaching and/or training is highly desired.
