Job Description - Communications Intern

Job Title: Communications Intern

Reports To: COO

Hours: Part time or full time

Date: 8/6/25


PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND JOB SUMMARY


Primavera Foundation is seeking a creative and go-getter Communications Intern to work collaboratively with staff in developing and implementing communications strategies to support Primavera Foundation’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. The successful candidate will be proficient in communications, marketing, and event planning, promotion and execution. The selected candidate will have a passion for Primavera’s work co-creating pathways out of poverty through safe, affordable housing, workforce development and comprehensive community development.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:


Content Creation: Write press releases, newsletters, website copy, social media posts, and other communication materials.

Social Media Management: Assist with the development and execution of social media strategies, creating engaging content, and monitoring social media channels.

Public Relations: Support media outreach efforts, including media list maintenance, press release distribution, and media monitoring.

Event Planning: Assist with the planning and execution of communication-related events.

Website Management: Help update and maintain the organization's website, including uploading content and ensuring accuracy.

Photography/Videography: Assist with capturing photos and videos of events and other activities for use in communication materials.

Adhere to and demonstrate Primavera’s guiding principles of integrity, respect, accountability, compassion and leadership


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Commitment to Primavera’s mission and vision

Knowledge of disinvested, marginalized and low-income communities

Commitment to working with integrity and in recognition of the dignity of those Primavera serves

Ability to think strategically about outreach to bolster Primavera’s image, work and philanthropic efforts that support participants and programs

Excellent organizational, administrative and event management skills

Outstanding verbal, written, public speaking and communications skills

Detail-oriented with an ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with an eye towards accuracy and quality


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Enrolled in a relevant degree program or equivalent education and experience

Associate’s (or higher) degree OR two years (60 Semester-Hour credits) of post-high school general education studies

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel as well as web-based databases

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail and accuracy

Previous involvement in event planning

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or other design software

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and clean driving record


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One year of previous media relations or communications internship experience

Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Familiarity with email marketing platforms and content management systems


PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Indoor business office environment with moderate office noise levels

Attendance at organizational and community events (indoors and out) throughout the year

Frequent travel by car between Primavera offices and programs and to meetings with community partners, including donors, residents, program participants, staff, board members and businesses
