Community Outreach COCOA House Work Study

Supervisor: Will Rivas/Ajay Goncalves

Work Available: Days, evenings

Pay Rate: $9.70/hr

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

Regular, weekly shifts at COCOA House, during which work-study students will:

·         Assist with one-on-one tutoring of 3rd-5th grade students

·         Supervise academic enrichment activities

·         Maintain site rules (e.g. disciplinary and safety procedures).

·         During each term, the work-study student may be asked to assist with field trips to local learning sites (e.g. museums, libraries) and/or Union College.

Note: work-study students may also have the opportunity to work on special projects that arise throughout the year.

Qualifications:

·         Interest and ability to work with elementary school aged children

·         Ability to work cooperatively and productively with volunteers, school district staff, parents, and community members

·         Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in an emergency situation

·         Familiarity and experience with diverse populations strongly preferred
