Position Title: Convenings (Meetings and Events (Intern (May - August 2026)
Department: Convenings
Location: Washington, DC. All staff and interns work from their local Lumina office three days days a week.
Duration: May 12 – Aug. 6, 2026
Compensation: $18- $21 hourly for undergraduate students
$21- $24 hourly for graduate students or recent graduates
Schedule: Work hours (40 hours/week); typically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., scheduled with supervisor.

Purpose
The candidate will provide hands-on operational, coordination, and logistical support for Lumina Foundation convenings that advance postsecondary attainment and economic mobility, with a strong emphasis on equity. The intern will support the planning and execution of complex, multi-day meetings, retreats, and conferences that bring together Lumina staff, grantees, policymakers, education leaders, and partners to drive learning, alignment, and action
This role supports the full convening lifecycle—from pre-event planning and stakeholder coordination to on-site execution and post-convening documentation—and offers direct exposure to how Lumina designs intentional, mission-driven convenings that balance strategic objectives, participant experience, and operational excellence.
The candidate will work closely with the Convenings team to support event planning and execution, including logistics coordination, stakeholder communication, preparation of materials, on-site support, and post-event follow-up. This role offers hands-on experience in mission-driven convening design and cross-functional collaboration.
