Approximately 1/4th of Northrop Grumman\u2019s 90,000 employees self-identify as veterans, and more than 1,600 are reservists.\n\nThe Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29 .The NG-MIP program is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The Northrop Grumman Military internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members. \n\nResponsibilities for this internship position are:\n\nNorthrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman \u2013 Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for SkillBridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program. \n\nGoals \u2013 Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.\n\nObjectives \\- Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly-trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission \u201cDefining Possible\u201d on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.\n\nOutcome \u2013 Offer transitioning service member a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.\n\nDoD SkillBridge Eligibility:\n\n * Has served at least 180 days on active duty\n\n * Is within 12 months of separation or retirement\n\n * Will receive an honorable discharge\n\n * Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS\n\n * Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months\n\n * Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship\n\n\n\n\nOur Aeronautics Systems sector is currently seeking a Composite Bonder level 1 to join our operations team, located in Clearfield, UT, working on a variety of bonds of dissimilar materials (composite, metal, or laminate) assemblies, parts, skins, components, equipment or structures into semi-finished or finished products.\n\nPlease note: Only external candidates and NG employees who are not currently aircraft structures mechanics at the Clearfield site will be considered under this requisition.\n\nPosition Requirements:\n\nThis position requires no previous knowledge or work history working on aircrafts. The candidate chosen will go through up to 6 weeks of training before hitting the shop floor. From there they will receive close supervision involving detailed and written instructions with checks on work performance. \n\nWhat you\u2019ll get to do:\n\n * Read and interpret blueprints.\n * Lay out articles, cuts parts or materials to size and apply liquid or solid bonding agents. \n * Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes\n * Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses and ovens to complete bonding cycle. \n * Control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used. \n * Sand, burs and smooth over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges. \n * Monitor and verify quality of finished product. \n * Complete repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions. Verifies quality of finished product.\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * High School diploma or GED\n * DoD Secret Security Clearance and special program access required to start, but not required to apply\n * Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: lifting over 25 pounds, working with chemicals, prolonged overhead work, climbing up and down ladders, prolonged kneeling, bending, or stooping, and carrying tools.\n * Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment.\n * Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends\n * Must successfully complete and pass the \u201cASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance\u201d within a reasonable time period, as defined by the company to meet its business need.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Completion of AFAB Certification (115- Structures, 120- Composites, 110- Blueprints, 130- Ethics) \n * Experience with hydraulic parts, aircraft fabrication, assemblies, components, and systems in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment\n * Active DoD Secret Clearance with a background investigation completed within the last six years with the ability to obtain program access.\n * Experience with structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps and stabilizers.\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $17.45 - $29.09\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
