Background
Dr. Loyd V. Allen, Jr., was a preeminent leader in the field of compounding pharmacy in the USA and beyond. His contributions left an indelible mark on the pharmacy profession in many ways, such as authorship of various seminal academic works and mentorship of students and pharmacist colleagues. He also served as an expert volunteer for USP and in numerous capacities for several decades, starting in the early 1990s. The Education Grant will target an early career pharmacist or other healthcare professional interested in gaining knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical compounding at USP. The Education Grant is supported by ARL BioPharma, and additional contributors are welcome to provide additional support via ARL (contact: Dr. Tom Kupiec at [email protected]). USP independently manages the selection and work of the selected candidate.

Qualifications and Eligibility
Duration
The Education Grant position will be awarded once every year on an annual rolling basis. The education grant will be on a part-time basis to last up to 6 weeks and will be non-renewable. The exact duration will be determined by the project designed and approved by the Education Grant administrators.
Stipend
The recipient of the Grant will receive a one-time stipend of $5,000. The Stipend will be used to support personal logistics (e.g. travel and temporary housing), registration and attendance at relevant conferences, and other grant-related costs.
Location
The fellow will be hosted by and carry out their primary activities at the USP headquarters in Rockville, MD, with hybrid/remote options, as appropriate.
