This Electrical Engineering summer (June start) and fall (early to mid-December end) co-op position is within the Collins Aerospace Simulation & Training (STS) business area in Sterling, VA. You will need to take the fall semester off. Collins Aerospace STS-Sterling develops, builds and modifies aircraft simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers. Devices range in complexity from a desktop trainer to a high fidelity weapon system and full-flight training systems. This role is onsite, in Sterling, VA. This role may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:

  • You will participate in technical preparations for new product development and implementation to ensure new products meet the required specifications and you will troubleshoot electrical devices problems to ensure that issues are resolved efficiently.
  • You will resolve day-to-day technical problems supporting our production lines to minimize disruption.
  • You will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks and produce products according to specifications, using the most cost effective and efficient means.
  • You will design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

What You Will Learn:

  • You will work under supervision to provide technical support to engineers on a variety of engineering tasks.
  • You will perform basic to moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects.
  • You will provide technical support to engineers on a variety of tasks.
  • You will plan and execute experiments and gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as engineering design changes to support engineering disciplines.
  • You will produce drawings, reports and engineering documentation.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Familiarity with drafting tools including AutoCAD, ECAD, is helpful as well as experience designing for Military Aircraft applications is helpful.
  • Experience in designing digital and analog products including microprocessor systems, low-power supplies, communication subsystems and experience in designing to meet signal integrity requirements for high-speed digital signals.
  • Experience in creating engineering and production test procedures and experience in designing engineering test fixtures and experience in requirements generation, validation, allocation, and traceability.
