This is a paid year-round internship located in Richland, WA.

The Engineering Intern will support the Energy Northwest New Nuclear Engineering Group in delivering high-quality technical solutions for small modular reactor nuclear energy projects. This role offers hands-on experience in engineering design, analysis, and project coordination within a highly regulated environment. The intern will collaborate with experienced engineers to ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational requirements.

PREFERRED MAJORS

Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or related fields

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with engineering software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

SCHEDULE

Approximately 15–20 hours/week during the school year, with full-time option in summer and during school breaks.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Provide entry-level to more advanced technical support for the designated organization based on assigned projects and student skill level. This position will be directly accountable to assigned department staff and will support assigned project related activities and initiatives.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Requires current part to full time enrollment status in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program in a technical field related to the assigned role at an accredited college or university.

  • Must maintain a minimum 2.8 cumulative G.P.A. unless approved by Human Resources.

  • The selected candidate will be expected to be available to work onsite in Richland, WA.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Pay Range:

Pay is based on academic level:

Freshman: $19.31 per hour

Sophomore: $19.31 per hour

Junior: $25.17 per hour

Senior: $27.32 per hour

Benefits

Temporary employees may be required to participate in the Washington State Pension Plan (PERS) and may also be eligible to enroll in medical insurance if the duration and hours worked requirements are met. Temporary employees accrue paid time off that is available to use after 90 days of employment.
