Learn more about our benefits. \n\nLocation: Austin, TX \nDuration: Summer Internship (approximately 10\u201312 weeks) \nDepartment: Environmental Health \u0026 Safety (EHS)\n\nPosition Overview\n\nThe Environmental Health \u0026 Safety (EHS) Summer Intern will support key strategic initiatives that strengthen supplier safety, compliance, and procurement alignment. This internship offers hands\u2011on experience at the intersection of EHS, Procurement, and Supplier Management, with a focus on building scalable, sustainable safety processes.\n\nThe intern will lead or support two primary projects:\n\nDevelopment and execution of a Master Services Agreement (MSA) for safety\u2011related products, and Evaluation and mapping of the contractor safety prequalification process, with emphasis on how safety is integrated into supplier selection.\n\nThis role is ideal for a student interested in EHS systems, supply chain risk management, or corporate safety strategy.\n\nKey Projects \u0026 Responsibilities\n\nProject 1: Master Services Agreement (MSA) \u2013 Safety Products\n\n * Support the development and execution of a Master Services Agreement (MSA) for our North America Sites covering:\n * Safety Shoes\n * Prescription Safety Glasses\n * Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)\n * Partner with EHS, Procurement, and Legal teams to:\n * Define safety, quality, and compliance requirements\n * Identify incumbent and potential suppliers\n * Align on supplier standards and service expectations\n * Conduct a structured Supplier Evaluation and Scorcard\n * Assist in documenting current and future\u2011state processes related to supplier engagement\n * Help evaluate supplier offerings and alignment with EHS standards\n * Contribute to implementation planning and communication materials\n\n\n\nProject 2: Contractor Safety Prequalification \u0026 Supplier Mapping\n\n * Analyze the current contractor and supplier prequalification process from a safety perspective\n * Map the end\u2011to\u2011end relationship between Procurement and Supplier Selection, including:\n * When and where supplier selection decisions are made\n * Who owns each step in the process\n * How safety requirements factor into selection and approval\n * Identify gaps, risks, or opportunities to better integrate EHS criteria into procurement workflows\n * Develop clear process maps and recommendations to improve safety visibility and accountability\n * Support documentation of findings for EHS and Procurement leadership\n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes\n\n * Exposure to real\u2011world EHS and procurement processes in a corporate environment\n * Experience working cross\u2011functionally with EHS, Procurement, Legal, and Supply Chain partners\n * Practical understanding of supplier safety management and contractor risk controls\n * Opportunity to contribute to long\u2011term, scalable safety solutions\n\n\n\nQualifications\n\n * Currently pursuing a Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in:\n * Environmental Health \u0026 Safety\n * Occupational Safety\n * Industrial Engineering\n * Supply Chain Management\n * Business, Environmental Science, or a related field\n * Strong analytical and organizational skills\n * Ability to document processes clearly and communicate findings effectively\n * Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and navigating ambiguity\n * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)\n * Interest in safety systems, supplier management, or operational risk\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Coursework or experience related to EHS, procurement, or supply chain operations\n * Familiarity with process mapping, risk assessment, or compliance frameworks\n * Experience working with contracts, vendors, or suppliers (academic or internship experience)\n\n\n\n * Flexible and adaptable mindset who thrives in a results-driven culture.\n\n\n\n\n * Authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.\n\n\n\n\nApplied Materials is committed to diversity in its workforce including Equal Employment Opportunity for Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities.\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree (Required)\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\n10-Day 8-Hr (United States of America)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nNot Specified\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nYes\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nNone\n\nApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
