Events Intern

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership is currently seeking an intern for our 2026 internship, starting early May through December 2026. This is a paid, in-person internship experience. 

Position Description: 

Gain real-world experience in events while helping promote the vitality of Downtown Pittsburgh and the region! This is an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate student looking to hone professional skills in event planning and execution. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Participate in the planning and execution of all PDP events 

• Provide on-site event management and support for weekly PDP programming and special events, including Farmers Markets, Picklesburgh, Oktoberfest, Light Up Night, Holiday Market, and more 

• Perform miscellaneous research and administrative tasks along with other duties as assigned  

Desired Characteristics & Requirements:  

• Current undergraduate students (sophomore, junior, senior) preferred 

• A passion for all things Pittsburgh 

• Excellent communication and strong customer service skills 

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines 

• Adaptability and willingness to learn 

• Availability to work primarily on-site in Downtown Pittsburgh is  

• Must be able to lift up to 25lbs  

• Comfortable interfacing with the general public at events 

• Willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including but not limited to heat, rain, and winter weather 

• Ability to work hours outside of a “regular workday”, including but not limited to early mornings, late evenings, and weekends 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva 

Internship Timeframe: 

Spring or Summer 2026 start: Internship runs early May through end of December 2026  
*An earlier start date in the Spring is negotiable depending on availability with a potential extension through Spring 2027 considered at the end of the initial internship.* 

Hours/Pay: 

• 20 hours per week at $16 per hour.  

• Monday – Friday office hours as well as on-site event work that will often require hours during weekends and evenings.
