Description

NAFSA: Association of International Educators is the world’s largest association of professionals committed exclusively to advancing international education and exchange. The association provides professional development and learning opportunities, promotes research and knowledge, and convenes conferences and collaborative dialogues.

 

The Knowledge Development (KDEV) team leads NAFSA’s efforts to further higher education internationalization; produce publications, thought leadership, and trend analyses; and provide robust conference and other program content and networking experiences for the international education field. The KDEV department consists of the following areas:

  • Conference Program
  • Publishing Services
  • Academic Affairs and Internationalization

This internship is a joint position, shared between the departmental units and reporting to the Associate Director, Conference & Global Engagement, who will help coordinate assigned projects.

 

Fall 2025 Intern Projects (September through Mid-December):

  

  • Update webinar presentations and documentation for conference committee work.
  • Assist with team preparations for the Annual Conference Committee fall meeting, including travel and logistics arrangements, agenda and materials development and dissemination, and communication coordination.  
  • Compile and analyze the 2026 global session proposals received  - identifying gaps in regions represented. 
  • Create social media content to promote the 2026 NAFSA Annual Conference, NAFSA publications, and programs. 
  • Assist with program development and travel and logistics for specific global programs.
  • Provide assistance on internationalization activities managed by KDEV (Senior Leader Summit, webinars, international visitor groups). 

 

Compensation: $18.00/hour for up to 20 hours per week with opportunity for prorated holiday and retirement benefits, if eligible.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter; proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications, especially Excel and Word; experienced with customer service; adept with Zoom and social media platforms; and have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Preferred candidates will have an interest in and/or knowledge of higher education, global affairs, event planning, and project management.

 

To be considered, you must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the US without requiring NAFSA’s sponsorship. We welcome students with valid work authorization, including those wishing to complete their experiential learning through their established curricular practical training (CPT), optional practical training (OPT), or academic training eligibility.


Salary Description

$18.00/hr for up to 20 hours per week
