About the Role

Western Pest Control is seeking a Pest Pro Field Assistant — a true jack of all trades role for someone eager to learn the pest control industry from the ground up. This is an internship-style position designed for individuals who enjoy mechanical work, problem-solving, and working independently while supporting the service team.

This role provides exposure to every part of the business — from equipment maintenance and vehicle inspections to assisting Pest Professionals in the field and coordinating time-sensitive service calls. If you thrive on variety, adaptability, and learning by doing, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Support & Emergency Response

    • Assist Pest Professionals on residential and commercial accounts.

    • Respond to urgent customer service calls and emergencies, coordinating with the office to manage shifting priorities.

    • Fill in on callbacks and follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Mechanical & Equipment Maintenance

    • Perform truck inspections and help resolve vehicle-related issues (e.g., jumpstarting, basic troubleshooting).

    • Maintain and repair field equipment including augers, scanners, backpack sprayers, B&G hand sprayers, and pumps.

    • Stock and manage rodent stations and pesticide products.

    • Conduct regular inventory counts and support warehouse efficiency.

  • Routing & Efficiency Support

    • Assist the Routing Department with scheduling and emergency fill-ins.

    • Help organize and stock technician trucks for maximum route efficiency.

    • Communicate with the office about shifting schedules, upcoming emergencies, and priority tasks.

  • Learning & Development

    • Gain hands-on knowledge of all pesticide products, safety protocols, and field equipment.

    • Learn best practices in customer service, routing, and field operations.

    • Shadow and support experienced Pest Professionals to understand the business from the inside out.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Mechanically inclined — comfortable with tools, equipment, and basic troubleshooting

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor conditions

  • Strong time-management and problem-solving skills

  • Able to work independently on multiple tasks in fast-paced, time-sensitive situations

  • Excellent communication skills with both office staff and field technicians

What We Offer

  • Paid training and mentorship from Service Managers and Pest Professionals

  • Hands-on experience with vehicles, equipment, and pesticide application tools

  • Opportunities to develop independence, mechanical skills, and field expertise

  • Exposure to industry business processes, routing systems, and commercial accounts
