Fitness Management Internship

RISHER FITNESS MANAGEMENT has a robust internship program that might be just what your are looking for! Our internship program has successfully mentored, guided, and prepared individuals interested in having a career in fitness since 2005.  We have helped students satisfy school credit and requirements through both paid and unpaid internships and prepare our interns to enter the job field upon completion.

An internship with RISHER FITNESS MANAGEMENT offers a comprehensive experience in the fitness industry.  Our interns will work alongside our Fitness Directors to see first-hand how we maintain client relationships and provide facility and staff management to ensure that our fitness centers are operating to the highest customer service standards while assisting our members in the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.  RFM provides Fitness Center Management to a variety of clients including corporate campuses, master-planned communities, developers, country clubs, universities, multifamily complexes and property owners. Interns with RFM will experience how our Directors integrate their passion for health and wellness into their daily operations as a manager.  They will have the opportunity to shadow our group exercise instructors and personal trainers as well as participate in health incentive program development and planning.  RFM interns will complete most of their internship hours at one or two sites but will have the opportunity to visit all sites and interview each Director about their experience within the industry.

RFM Internship Objectives

• Work alongside fitness center Directors


• Learn about facility and site management


• Participate in fitness center planning


• Assist in design of health and wellness initiatives


• Assist in marketing and advertisement of health and wellness programs


• Set the standard for and provide members with exceptional customer service


• Observe and shadow trainers and instructors


• Receive hands on experience with personal training clients


• Observe or perform biometric measurements


• Practice exercise program development


• Learn about reporting, staffing, budget management and administrative operations


• Visit a variety of sites to interview Fitness Directors


• Opportunity to experience both corporate wellness and community fitness centers

RFM Internship Requirements

• Must be seeking a degree in Kinesiology or related field


• Personal Training and/or Group Fitness Certification preferred (not required)


• CPR/AED certification must be obtained with 30 days of start of internship


• Must be at least 18 years of age


• Must be reliable and consistent transportation


• Must be punctual, on time, friendly, and have a positive attitude


• Must maintain a professional appearance at all times


• Ability to multi-task, work independently and with a team, and perform detail-oriented functions
