Food Truck Intern

Internship Description

The New Hope of Indiana Food Truck Intern will be expected to perform the following throughout the internship:

• Observe, demonstrate, and document individuals culinary and customer service skills


• Order products, plan, and prepare food each day with the individuals to be sold on the food truck.


• Coordinate all aspects of operating the food truck (Drive the truck, maintain all food safety handling rules, collect money for food sold, balance books and demonstrate excellent customer service)


• Social Media


• Maintain positive skill-building and supportive environment


• Maintain New Hope of Indiana community partnerships through great customer service and communication.

Internship Duration & Time Commitment

The internship will be full time hours (36 per week) from May 2026 – July 2026.

Job Requirements & Skills

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Preferred

• Six (6) months professional, educational, or personal experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities.


• Six (6) months in food service industry.

Special Training, Licensure, or Credentialing

• Valid Indiana Operator Driver’s License


• Maintain valid automobile insurance and a driving record that meets New Hope’s Transportation and Vehicular Safety policy.


• Expected to obtain a Food Safety Handlers license within thirty (30) days of hire

Personal Skills and Aptitudes

• Requires the capacity to operate a box truck


• Knowledge of menu planning, food prep and quantity management.


• Required to move, lift, or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds as needed for the role.
