FUNDRAISING AND DEVELOPMENT INTERN (Temporary)


Part-time, Non-exempt, non-benefitted position

JOB DESCRIPTION:


 


General Statement of Duties: The Fundraising and Development Intern will support Willamalane Park and Recreation District's fundraising efforts by assisting with grant research, sponsorships, donor cultivation, and event planning for Willamalane Park Foundation's annual fundraising event. This position will work closely with the Fundraising and Development Manager to gain hands-on experience in revenue generating opportunities for a park and recreation district. This internship provides a learning opportunity for work experience in cultivating sponsors, grant writing, event planning, and nonprofit development.


 


Distinguishing Features of the Class: An intern in this classification provides research, administrative assistance, and event coordination in the primary area of Fundraising and Development. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Fundraising and Development Manager. 


 


Examples Of Essential Duties Performed: (Illustrative only. Any single position of a class will not necessarily involve all of the duties listed, and many positions will involve duties that are not listed.)


 



  • Research and identify potential sponsors and donors.   

  • Conduct grant research for potential funding.

  • Write professional emails to prospective sponsors, current partners, and donors.

  • Assist in tracking fundraising efforts, sponsorship agreements, and donor relationships.

  • Attend networking events, partner meetings, and the Park Foundation's annual fundraising event

  • Work with multiple Willamalane departments to support sponsorship integration across the district.

  • Other related duties or special projects as assigned.


 


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:


 


Knowledge: A general understanding and interest in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, community engagement, and event planning is desirable.


 


Skills: Strong written and verbal community skills. Other desired skills include, but are not limited to, research abilities, organizational skills, ability to work in teams, and comfortable using technology such as Google Drive and Microsoft Teams. 


 


Abilities: Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment. The intern should be open to learning, receptive to feedback, and comfortable in asking questions as well as contributing new ideas.


 


Physical Demands of the Position:  This position is primarily office-based with occasional participation in events or meetings, which may require light physical activity such as walking, standing, or lifting promotional materials (typically under 25 lbs). Flexibility for occasional evening or weekend work may be beneficial. Persons with disabilities may be able to perform the essential duties of this class with reasonable accommodation. Preferred Experience and Training: No prior fundraising experience is required, but an interest in nonprofit organizations, public work, or community development is encouraged.

Hours/Shifts


Flexible, during the hours of 8:30am to 4pm Monday-Thursday preferred.

Willamalane Park and Recreation District determines starting pay based on the applicant's relevant education, experience and training within the wage and salary range for the position. This process is consistent with Oregon pay equity laws
