General Management Internships at Attack Theatre are ideal for persons interested in the operations and administration of a thriving performing arts organization. Due to the small and collaborative nature of Attack Theatre’s staff, this position offers a valuable learning experience that more compartmentalized internships do not offer. This internship will offer insight and experience in the workings of a growing nonprofit arts organization based locally and working globally. 

Intern Position Description: 

Founded 29 years ago, Attack Theatre is a dance and arts education company operating with a small and dedicated administrative staff, dancers, and teaching artists. Due to the small and collaborative nature of Attack Theatre’s staff, this position offers a valuable learning experience that more compartmentalized internships do not offer. This internship will offer insight and experience in the workings of a growing nonprofit arts organization based locally and working globally.  

This is an in-person position with some remote work possible. The staff and artists work primarily at Attack Theatre’s new headquarters in the heart of Lawrenceville.  

Hours are flexible (part-time/full-time), and will be mutually agreed upon at the beginning of the internship.

Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities may include: 

• Assist with marketing research and development for performances and events  
• Assist with preparation of local and national grants and final reports, upkeep of grant calendar and deadlines. 
• Research new foundations, donor sources, and corporate sponsorships 
• Assist with administration and operations of Season Productions and Events, plus numerous educational and outreach performances and residencies.
• If specific interest and expertise, collaborate with Arts Education Team on educational programming, reporting and planning.
   

Intern Will Gain:

• Diverse skills and hands-on experience in nonprofit management for a mid-sized performing arts organization. 
• Experience supporting Attack Theatre programs that include local dance and site-specific productions, arts education, and touring initiatives
• Direct interaction with experience administrative staff and artists
• Opportunities to give creative insights or feedback regarding potential projects/performances, marketing, and sponsorship strategies
• Opportunities to interact with professionals in the nonprofit sector, specifically the arts 

In addition to gaining the skills associated with these responsibilities, all interns are encouraged to share any specific skills or knowledge they would like to gain during their time with Attack Theatre. Staff will work with interns to develop or assist on projects that align with these interests. 

Requirements

• Interest in non-profit performing arts 
• A collaborative work practice who welcomes a human-centered design approach to ideation and implementation 
• Organized and detail oriented
• Desire to transform ideas into action
• Curiosity and interest in learning the field 
• Semi-regular availability (schedule will be mutually agreed upon) 

And most importantly, intern must be flexible, self-motivated, organized, able to work independently, and interested in and passionate about learning every day.
