The Center for Student Belonging (CSB) is one of the key units within the Student Engagement portfolio of the Division of Student Affairs. CSB fosters an inclusive, identity-conscious, and belonging driven campus environment where students can explore their identities, build connections, and develop leadership skills. Graduate Assistants are central to the Center’s mission, helping to plan and implement programs, support students, and contribute to a campus culture that promotes belonging and community engagement.
The Assessment, Evaluation, & Research Graduate Assistant (GA) advances the Center for Student Belonging’s commitment to data-informed practice by supporting the development, implementation, and analysis of assessment initiatives that enhance student belonging, engagement, and success. Reporting to the Associate Director(s), the GA contributes to ongoing research efforts that help the Center understand student experiences, measure program impact, and inform strategic decision-making.
In this part-time role, the GA will design assessment tools, collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data, and translate findings into accessible reports and recommendations. The GA will collaborate closely with CSB staff, campus partners, and student leaders to ensure assessment practices reflect best principles in equity, inclusion, and student-centered research. Through this work, the GA supports a culture of continuous improvement and advances the Center’s mission to create an affirming, responsive, and data-informed campus environment.
Develop and pilot surveys, focus groups, and structured interviews to evaluate student engagement, program impact, and learning outcomes.
Ensure all assessments incorporate equity, inclusion, and culturally sustaining practices consistent with CSB’s mission and values.
Contribute to the design of longitudinal and cross-sectional studies to measure program effectiveness and student development.
Track participation, engagement, and learning outcomes across CSB workshops, events, and leadership programs.
Conduct rigorous statistical and thematic analyses to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for enhancing student belonging and engagement.
Synthesize complex data into actionable insights to inform program strategy and improvement.
Collaborate with CSB staff, student leaders, and faculty advisors to interpret assessment results and develop recommendations for program improvement.
Apply evidence-based and theoretically informed strategies to refine existing programs and guide the development of new initiatives.
Produce comprehensive written reports, data visualizations, dashboards, and presentations summarizing assessment outcomes for staff, leadership, and stakeholders.
Present findings in accessible and actionable formats, highlighting implications for policy, programming, and student experience.
Identify opportunities for innovative programming based on data-driven insights and student needs assessments.
Contribute to annual program evaluations and long-term planning efforts, aligning findings with CSB priorities and institutional goals.
Partner with program leads to ensure assessment measures align with intended learning outcomes and student development goals.
Provide guidance on methods for capturing student feedback and experiences in ways that are inclusive, culturally responsive, and mission-aligned.
Manage data collection platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Google Forms, Microsoft tools) and maintain accurate documentation of assessment procedures.
Develop and refine standard operating procedures for program evaluation, outcomes tracking, and reporting, ensuring consistency and reliability.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-time.
20 hours per week.
Salary Range:
$18.95 per hour.
Bachelor’s degree.
Enrollment in AU’s School of Education graduate programs.
Experience in student programming and/or leadership development.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Primarily in-person, with occasional virtual support.
Flexible scheduling with an expected part-time commitment of up to 20 hours/week.
Evening availability and core day availability (Wednesday, Thursday, and/or Friday).
Position requires collaboration with students, staff, and campus partners.
