Description

 Scope of Position: Responsible for pre-flighting print files, printing inkjet graphics, maintaining & updating printers and software; ordering printer materials & supplies. 

  

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Pre-flighting print files & printing inkjet graphics.
  • Meeting all production schedules implemented by the Graphic Production Supervisor and/or Work Order. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Maintain & organize files on the Print Server. Assist with scheduling and prioritization of printing schedule. 
  • Ordering printing materials & supplies and maintaining the inventory system.
  • Maintain equipment in proper working condition; replace parts and toner; adjust equipment in response to minor malfunctions; perform minor maintenance and repair; report major maintenance and repair needs to appropriate personnel. Attend seminars and classes to stay current with software and print production techniques.
  • As time and workflow needs allow, assist with mounting and laminating inkjet prints and general graphic production.
  • Use a professional and considerate manner when communicating with fellow workers. 

Requirements

  

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities. 

  • Proficient with wide-format and other printer types, and the software used to operate the printers. 
  • Possess a general knowledge of graphic production techniques and graphic workflow.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and preferred two (2) years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

General Skills: 

  • Computer Skills—To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a complete understanding of large-format inkjet printers and RIP software. They should also have working knowledge of Macintosh computers, Windows 11 or greater, and Microsoft 365.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability – Applying common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Self-paced, able to work in 8-hour shifts. 
  • Possible exposure to skin irritation and fumes from chemical solutions and ink, cuts and bruises from operating equipment and handling supplies and finished products, and exposure to loud equipment noises from the fabrication shop. Functional near, far, and peripheral vision and functional hearing may be required, as directed by the supervisor.

Physical Demands: No special skills are required; May sit for long periods and work at a computer; May be asked to perform light physical duties in helping with graphic production. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
