Job Description - Hawaii Heart Associates

CMA Externship position. Practice specialty: General cardiology. Hours of operation: Mon- Fri 0900-1700.

Job Description:

As a CMA student, you will provide essential clinical and administrative support to our medical receptionists, medical assistants, echo sonographers, vascular sonographers, registered nurses, nurse practitioners and cardiologists, ensuring efficient patient care delivery and smooth clinic operations.

Job Duties:

âPatient Care:
Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms.
Complete vital signs and 12 lead EKGs
Reconcile medications and complete medication refills.
Complete medication prior authorization.
Assist cardiologists during patient examinations and procedures.

Clinical Support:
Prepare examination rooms and medical equipment for procedures.
Administer medications and injections under the direction of a cardiologist or nurse practitioner.
Assist with stress tests, stress echocardiograms, and segmental ankle-brachial index screening.
Coordinate patient appointments, referrals, and follow-up care.

Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and maintain accurate medical records.
Handle incoming calls, inquiries, and requests from patients and healthcare providers.
Verify patient insurance coverage and process billing and insurance claims.
Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment and reorder as needed.
Prepare cardiologist charts, inputting test results such as lipid panel results and echocardiogram findings.

Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with cardiologists, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
Collaborate with medical staff to ensure coordinated patient care and optimal outcomes.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Covid vaccine and booster are required.
