Position Summary
This position will support the mission and work of the Health Promotion (HP) team. They will: represent HP at presentations and outreach events across campus to a variety of audiences, support the behind-the-scenes management of campus-wide health promotion initiatives, and gain valuable work experience while learning about collegiate health and wellness. This position is joining an upbeat, encouraging team who are eager to bring health promotion to the forefront of the Butler experience. The team consists of: the Health Promotion Specialist, a student marketing intern, and a team of student peer health educators (PAWS).
Work Schedule
Flexible. 5–10 hours per week; schedule determined collaboratively. Some evening and weekend programs, as determined
Position Responsibilities
Represent Health Promotion during promotional events and outreach, such as: presentations to student organizations, Resource Fair, Block Party, health and wellness fairs, topical tabling events, and Office of Admission events
Maintain Health Promotion privacy standards while conducting outreach and while fulfilling Sexual Health Supplies Delivery orders, under minimal supervision
Perform administrative tasks & support members of the team and their work. This may include: data entry & analysis, proofreading documents, hanging posters across campus, delivering and distributing supplies, prepping materials for outreach events, etc.
Contribute your student perspective and feedback to the development of new projects, campaigns, and initiatives
Maintain an awareness of well-being concepts and trends on campus; communicate those trends with the team (“trends” could be things like: midterms season so everyone is stressed, it’s Greek Week so be mindful of evening programming, everyone is going home this weekend, a lot of students are sick right now, etc.)
Required Qualifications
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Comfort discussing and working in health promotion topics like alcohol education, sexual health promotion, and mental health
Attention to detail, organized with dates and commitments
Ability to work independently
Live on or near the Butler campus
Preferred Qualifications
Working toward a degree within the social sciences or health sciences
Formal and/or informal knowledge of well-being concepts, theories, and practices
Experience and passion working, volunteering, or participating in organizations/projects related to well-being
Other Expectations
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Comply with University standards and policies.
Ensure confidentiality of information.
