JOB TITLE:  


Cross-Platform Media Coordinator, Student Media 


JOB PURPOSE:   


The Cross-Platform Media Coordinator provides student leadership for Student Media’s integrated student media organizations by coordinating operations, encouraging collaboration among editorial teams, and supporting strategic initiatives that enhance student learning and audience engagement. The position facilitates cross-platform communication while maintaining editorial independence.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 



  1. Oversees student media operations and workflow.

  2. Coordinates cross-platform collaboration between the Branding Iron, the BI Digital and WyoWire.

  3. Coordinates editorial direction, strategic priorities, and content standards through weekly publication leadership team meetings.

  4. Encourages collaboration between newspaper, digital, social media and broadcast teams.

  5. Supports recruitment, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for student staff

  6. Attend weekly meetings with the Supervisor and Student Staff.

  7. The coordinator is required to work in the office no less than 20 hours each week. The times must be posted and followed.  At least 15 of the 20 hours must be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.        

  8. Attend Student Media Board meetings as ex-officio member as needed. 

  9. Serve as a direct line to adviser, sales manager, production coordinator, and business manager. 

  10. Serve as a contact person with Communication and Journalism Department.

  11. Superintend the operations of the production and deadline schedules. 

  12. Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 



  1. Must be a currently enrolled University of Wyoming student with a minimum 2.5 GPA. 

  2. Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills. 

  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  4. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. 

  5. Demonstrated commitment to ethical journalism, editorial independence, and professional standards. 

  6. Ability to mentor and support fellow student employees while fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment. 

  7. Working knowledge of print, digital, social media, and/or broadcast media operations. 

  8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.

  9. Must be available to start work Aug. 24, 2026. 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   



  1. Previous experience serving in a student media leadership position. 

  2. Experience coordinating projects or leading teams. 

  3. Knowledge of AP Style, media law, and journalistic ethics. 

  4. Experience with content management systems, social media platforms, and multimedia storytelling. 

  5. Experience planning editorial coverage across multiple media platforms. 

  6. Some supervisory experience.

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus, understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.
