Summer Youth Internship Program
As a result of taking part in the Summer Youth Internship Program, interns will gain authentic work experience and develop transferable skills while contributing to our mission to inspire a lifelong love of science in everyone. Please note that you must be available to work routinely on Wednesdays, as well as a week day and a day on the weekend.

What You’ll Accomplish
Activity and facilitation training: Learn facilitation strategies and techniques for engaging visitors in hands-on activities and interpretations. Train on In-Gallery Learning activities in the Engineering Design Workshop, Hall of Human Life, and Charles River Field Station.
Engage visitors: Interact directly with museum visitors for 4+ hours per day in the In-Gallery Learning spaces. Act as a museum ambassador providing excellent customer service.
Support IGL operations: Assist with the setup and breakdown of daily activities. Help maintain gallery teaching space, cleaning and preparing activity materials as needed.
What We’re Looking For (Competencies)
Communication: Comfort talking, interacting, and communicating with people of diverse backgrounds and ages.
Collaboration: Comfort working with a team to accomplish a goal. Contribute to discussions and respectfully interact with others.
Willingness to learn: Interest in STEM and/or informal education, and a willingness to continue learning.
Customer service: Comfort supporting visitors in a positive, engaging way. Comfort with large crowds of people in an active environment, often interacting with hundreds of visitors per hour.
