Position Summary
Under general supervision, supports accounting functions at the District. Responsible for daily reconciliation of financial assistance payments to customer accounts, preparation of various monthly financial reports and other special projects as assigned.
Education
- Required - One (1) year of college completed with a study emphasis in accounting, finance, or a related field. If a recent graduate, must be pursuing post graduate hours.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Testing
- Required - Have and maintain a valid driver’s license Upon Hire
- Required - Pre-employment Background Check & Drug Screen Upon Hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills; attention to accuracy and details.
- Must be a self-starter.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to work on several projects at one time and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with personal computers, tablets, and/or other electronic devices to include familiarity with, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and enterprise wide software (e.g., SAP). (Intermediate proficiency)
- Ability to learn new or upgraded computer software as required.
- Efficient written and verbal communication skills, in English, to assist internal and external customers, co-workers and management professionally, regardless of provocation.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary.
Essential Functions
- Assist with special projects as assigned, such as updating plant ledgers, gathering supporting documents for insurance claims, completing annual surveys, and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Prepare routine journal entries to record monthly bond entries.
- Update monthly spreadsheet for water main breaks.
- Update monthly spreadsheet for monthly capital projects.
- May receive work direction and oversight from the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis and the Manager, Disbursement & Cash Management.
- Assist gathering data for the annual audit.
