Job Description:
SUMMARY:
This internship is designed for PRCI Tribal Members interested in gaining practical experience in Casino Operations, specifically in the position of Dual Rate Bingo Attendant/Bingo Supervisor.
The Intern will have the opportunity to gain 1 year of on-the-job training, relevant education, and experience necessary to understand and perform the duties of the position by successfully completing all tasks and assignments listed in the Intern Work Plan. Additionally, the Intern may participate in in-house training opportunities to gain leadership skills and/or attend off-site trainings, in order to enhance their skills and broaden their service knowledge.
The Intern will acquire the skills necessary to be responsible for ensuring maximum customer service and satisfaction through the organization and supervision of assigned areas according to Bingo Department policies and procedures and Gaming Regulations.
The Interns growth will be tracked in the internship work plan and through several check-in's during the course of their internship. The successful completion of the internship will result when the work plan is completed and the TMCDA and Director/Manager feel the Intern is capable of success in this role. At which point the intern will receive a Certificate of Completion, which may be used when applying to future positions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Throughout the internship the Intern will learn how to:
• Effectively working with the public and Team Members. Performing excellent customer service at all times.
• Perform excellent customer service at all-times. Monitor the operation of Bingo and participates in payouts in accordance with policy.
• Monitor Bingo efficiently and timely while providing excellent guest service.
• Complete written department forms to document inventory, exchanges, card and tab sales, cash transactions, credit card transactions, Bingo payouts, etc. in an accurate, legible manner.
• Operate the OMNI system to pay and/or verify Bingo winnings and make sales to customers and complete any required written documentation.
• Conduct Bingo activities to ensure protection of company property and funds; and maintain the safety and cleanliness of room.
• Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of cards, packages, balls, pull tabs, etc. Verifying all counts for accuracy in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain proper rapport with customers by handling disputes, maintaining a positive attitude, engaging costumers, and communicating special promotions and property products.
• Assist guest on a timely basis with requests for change and promotes positive guest relations.
• Adhere to safe and secure cash handling procedures in order to protect the assets of the company.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations.
• Create an atmosphere of excitement for all Bingo and casino guests.
• Encourage mutual respect, dignity and integrity with all Team Members by setting positive examples at all times. Exercise appropriate discretion in identifying situations that require management attention.
• Handle and secure company-issued keys in compliance with departmental guidelines
• Supervise the overall operation of Bingo and electronic Bingo devices and performance of Bingo staff and coordinates with Assistant Casino Operations Manager or above for any Customer and/or Team Member problems.
• Monitor the organization of assigned shift and area which includes daily Team Member assignments, break schedules and staffing levels.
• Verify bingo payouts and booth buying/selling, maintains security of monies within the department and assigned areas.
• Supervise count in/count out of change banks when variances occur, also records and tracks variances related to Bingo.
• Supervise count in/count out of Bingo cards and funds, also records and tracks variances related to Bingo, and checks voids related to Bingo.
• Maintain accurate inventory of Bingo supplies, including, but not limited to card, booklets, daubers, electronic bingo tablets, etc.
• Verify and administer payment to winning Bingo guests in accordance with Bingo Policies.
• Monitor the Bingo card/paper inventory and admission of daily card/paper stock in accordance with Bingo Policies.
• Make recommendations and suggestions to hire, suspend, evaluate, promote, assign, reward and/or discipline the Team Members in his/her span of supervision.
• Support training programs for each position and ensures adequate training and development is provided for each Team Member.
• Promote all departmental and property-wide promotions.
• Resolve miscellaneous customer complaints, referring to the appropriate supervisor or manager when necessary.
• Greet customers, establishing rapport with them and providing complimentary amenities based upon specific casino guidelines for levels of play.
• Assist customers with reservations for restaurants and hotel rooms. Assists with transportation arrangements and special events ticketing.
• Provide a safe work environment for employees through compliance with established safety guidelines, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting them to the appropriate person for proper resolution.
• Maintain a professional department, company, appearance and community reputation.
• Enforce performance standards, policies and procedures as they relate to the department
• Maintain of local jurisdiction gaming laws (federal, state, etc.) and attendant regulations as well as the Company’s internal controls, policies and procedures.
• Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
• Perform any reasonable request made by management that assists with the education or understanding of the official position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Throughout the internship the Intern will learn how to:
Directly supervise Bingo Attendants.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Throughout the internship the Intern will learn how to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability that the intern will have or will be required to achieve during the internship.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
• Completion of High school diploma/GED.
• Bingo Supervisor experience.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Develop strong computer skills in appropriate software.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Remain in Good Standing during the entirety of the internship.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Upon entering the internship, the intern should have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of Customers or Team Members.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Upon entering the internship, the intern should have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. With the basic ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Upon entering the internship, the intern should have the ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. With the basic ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations, by resolving or directing to the proper level of supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Upon entering the internship, the intern should have the ability to meet the physical demands described here. They are representative of those that must be met by the Intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the Intern is regularly required to talk and hear. The Intern is also regularly required to stand and walk; to use and to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Intern is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The Intern must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Intern encounters while performing the essential functions of this internship.
While performing the duties of this job, the Intern regularly works near moving mechanical parts such a gaming machines and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and radiation.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. When on the casino floor, the Intern will be exposed to a smoke-filled environment.
