Intern - Horticulture/Landscape Design - May 2027

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plant Care and Maintenance: To include planting, transplant, shrubs, trees, and other plants. Prune, trim and shape plants to promote healthy growth and desired aesthetics. Fertilize, weak, and water plants according to established standards.

• Landscape Maintenance: Mow turf, edge borders, and maintain walkways and paths. Remove debris, fallen leaves, and dead plants to ensure cleanliness and safety. Install and maintain mulch, pine straw, compost and other ground coverings. Spray and record all chemical use.

• Equipment and Tool Usage: Operate and maintain horticultural tools and equipment, such as pruners, trimmers, and irrigation systems. Perform routine cleaning and minor repairs of tools and equipment.

• Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with supervisors and team members to plan and implement landscaping projects. Report any issues related to plant health, equipment, or landscape areas

• All other duties as required by supervision.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Performs job responsibilities and operates equipment according to the company safety and training programs.


• Uses personal protective equipment as trained and required. Wear safety glasses, ear plugs, sunscreen, gloves, and seatbelts when required.


• Maintains a safe and clean work environment.


• Reports safety or hazard concerns to management.


• Reports any on the job injury to management immediately.


• Takes personal responsibility for safety every day.


• Report equipment issues to Equipment Manager immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prefer previous experience in landscape maintenance or landscape installation.


• Pursuing a Horticulture degree, or related field degree.


• Operate equipment with precision and care.


• Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs. consistently.


• Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel and work in various weather conditions.


• Strong attention to detail.
