Job Description Summary:
Selected team members will work collaboratively on procurement optimization projects for Whitehead Institute, a leading biomedical research organization. This role offers exposure to lab consumables, reagents, equipment, IT hardware, software and services procurement while developing analytical, project management, and client engagement skills.
Primary Responsibilities
• Analyze procurement processes and identify opportunities for operational improvement
• Conduct supplier market research for IT hardware, software, lab consumables, reagents, equipment, and services
• Develop spend analytics and create data-driven insights using available tools
• Research and present best practices in negotiations and project management
• Collaborate with Whitehead Institute's Procurement and stakeholders to understand current challenges
• Participate in bi-weekly meetings and maintain continuous communication
• Deliver a comprehensive final presentation of findings and recommendations
Qualifications
Required:
- Currently enrolled at Northeastern University
- Active member of Northeastern Supply Chain Club
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Professional demeanor and reliability
Preferred:
- Experience with PowerBI, SQL, or other data analytics tools
- Coursework in supply chain management, operations, or procurement
- Previous internship or co-op experience in supply chain, operations, or consulting
- Some knowledge of life sciences or laboratory procurement environments
- Some project management experience
