M.S. Rau’s Sales Operations Internship is designed to give an overview on the business operations of a large art gallery to college students looking to pursue a career in the art world. The Sales Operations team has a unique position within the company, allowing our team to work closely with many departments; we understand the valuable nature of this position and want to share this unique perspective with students looking to break into the field. The internship will allow students to participate with the sales operations team on daily tasks, deepening students' understanding of art business.

Students will be required to share a 30-minute presentation at the end of the summer to Rau’s 10 sales consultants and other members of the Sales Operations team. During the course of the summer, students will have time to work on their presentation while in the gallery. It is our expectation that the presentation will share important information with our sales team that will benefit their selling experience. Ideas include but are not limited to: deep dives on certain artists, movements or artistic techniques; in-depth assessment of art market status and trends; upcoming exhibitions, shows and events featuring the artwork of our most common artists.

Students are required to be present at the gallery at least three days a week with an option to work a few Saturdays if planned ahead of time. Internship hours can be from 9:00am – 5:15pm Monday through Saturday. 12+ hours a week are expected.

We are looking for students with a strong work ethic, a desire to learn and a positive attitude. Requirements are:

  • Ready to work a 10 to 12-week long internship during your summer.
  • Able to come into the gallery at least 3 days a week for a total of 12+ hours a  week.
  • Studying or interested in art history, history, economics, studio art or business.

Compensation:

  •  This is a part-time hourly position paying $12/hr.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and antique gallery. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The position uses a computer to access, input, and retrieve data. Finger dexterity is required to operate computer keyboard.
