Intern - Security Analyst

Essential Duties:

The following represents many of the activities of the security team that will be supported by the position, but is not meant to be an all-inclusive nor prevent other activities from being assigned when necessary:

• Assist in monitoring and analyzing security logs and alerts to identify potential security incidents.
• Participate in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Assist in reviewing and evaluating security controls to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate security risks.
• Assist in the investigation and resolution of security incidents, including root cause analysis and remediation.
• Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
• Support the Information Security team with ad hoc tasks and projects as needed.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:

• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of common security technologies such as endpoint protection systems, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus software.
• Familiarity with networking, operating systems, and security technologies.
• Familiarity with security frameworks, standards, and best practices.
• Knowledge of CIS CSC or equivalent security framework a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve security goals.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task with attention to accuracy.
• Ability to adapt to a changing and fast paced work environment.

Education and/or Experience: 

• Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Information/Cyber Security, or a related field required.

Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:

• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:

• Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. 
• Must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing.
• Travel to other Grand River Dam Authority locations may be required.

• Personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required at all Grand River Dam Authority operations worksites.
• Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.

Other Information:

• Position is on-site and located at the Engineering and Technology Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
• Position isn’t eligible for remote or hybrid consideration.
