Assist with daily golf course maintenance, including mowing greens, tees, fairways, and roughs.
Participate in irrigation management, including troubleshooting, repair, and monitoring of systems.
Help with the application of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and other plant protectants, while following safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Assist with aeration, topdressing, overseeding, and other agronomic practices to maintain healthy turfgrass.
Learn to operate and maintain various types of equipment such as mowers, aerators, and utility vehicles.
Perform regular bunker maintenance, including raking and shaping.
Assist in maintaining flower beds, trees, shrubs, and other landscape areas around the golf course.
Monitor turf health and report any signs of pests, disease, or stress to the agronomy team.
Participate in course setup for tournaments and special events, ensuring that all playing surfaces meet the required standards.
Work with the Superintendent to understand soil, water, and turfgrass science.
Keep accurate records of daily tasks, including fertilizer applications, pesticide usage, and irrigation schedules.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including equipment storage areas and maintenance shop.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of turf management and golf course maintenance practices is a plus but not required.
Strong interest in pursuing a career in golf course maintenance or sports turf management.
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and a positive attitude toward learning.
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment or materials (up to 50 lbs.).
A valid driver’s license is preferred.
