Position: Junior Buyer

Define general scope of position:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join our Procurement team. This entry-level role will support the purchasing of materials, components, and services required for machinery production. The Junior Buyer will assist in vendor communications, manage purchase orders, and ensure timely delivery of supplies to meet production schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in sourcing and procuring materials, parts, and services at the best possible price without compromising quality or delivery timelines.
2. Create, issue, and track purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
3. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and assist in vendor performance evaluations.
4. Monitor inventory levels to forecast supply needs.
5. Work closely with the engineering and production departments to ensure components meet technical and quality specifications.
6. Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules under the guidance of the Purchasing Manager.
7. Resolve invoice discrepancies and support finance with procurement documentation.
8. Maintain accurate procurement records and update supplier information in the system.
9. Continuously identify and propose cost-saving and process improvement opportunities.
10. Support compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and ethical procurement practices.
Education and Experience requirements:
Education:
x High School diploma or equivalent
x Associates Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management or related field preferred
Experience:
o No experience, above education required
x 0-1 year of experience
x 2-3 years of prior related experience
Computer Skills & Equipment required:
· Basic understanding of supply chain and purchasing principles.
· Strong negotiation and communication skills.
· Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively.
· Team-oriented with a proactive and flexible approach to work.
Skills and Abilities required for this position:
Skills & Abilities:
· Familiarity with mechanical components and industrial machinery parts.
· Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing procurement role.
· Coursework or certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, ISM) is advantageous.
