Junior Educator Assistant for Summer Science Camps

Job Class: Part Time
Hiring Range: $19.29
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This is a seasonal job with fluctuating hours:

Essential Duties

• Assist Camp Educators with:
  • Classroom management - aid educators with group ratios (bathroom breaks, camper lunch breaks, and educator breaks) and support campers with program activities
  • Program material preparation - support camp staff in preparing materials and supplies for program activities, as well as program set up and clean up
• Supports an inclusive, dynamic, and visitor focused experience for program participants
• Communicates and works collaboratively with a team of camp aides, educators, and camp directors
• Maintains prompt and frequent communication with supervisors, ensuring that instructions are followed, and communicates problems immediately
• Conducts work within the safety guidelines of the Museum, ensuring personal safety and the safety of campers while (under the guidance of supervisors) following state license requirements for licensed childcare centers. 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

• Must be between 16-18 years old at the time of hire
• Ability to clearly communicate and work well with others
• Must be able to work the entire term stated

Ideal Candidate Will Be/Have

• Bilingual English/Spanish with $1 pay differential
• Interest in pursuing career in Education or Science field
• Ability to be flexible and multi-task
• Ability to learn content quickly
• Enthusiasm for working with and engaging children with patience and empathy
