Manufacturing Engineering Intern (Fall 2026)

Job Description - Manufacturing Engineering Intern (Fall 2026)

Join Us in Building the Future of Home Robotics

At Sunday, we're developing personal robots to reclaim the hours lost to repetitive tasks. We're focused on an ambitious goal to make generalized robots broadly accessible, enabling households to take back quality time.

We have spent the last 18 months building a talented team, securing capital, and validating our technology. We are now seeking passionate individuals to join us in the next phase of our growth. If you are ready to apply your skills to the forefront of robotics innovation, we’d love to hear from you.

What to Expect

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to help design, build, and scale the manufacturing systems that create our robots and data collection devices. You will play a key role in transforming our manufacturing processes from early stage builds into mass production.

This role is ideal for an engineer excited about scaling production, improving build processes, and working on jig and fixture designs to meet high quality standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the design and development of mechanical jigs and fixtures for wearable and robotic devices

  • Contribute to DFM/DFA efforts to ensure designs can scale from low-volume prototypes to high-volume production through build analysis reviews

  • Work with vendors and suppliers on prototyping, tooling, and production readiness

  • Assist in documentation for manufacturing design reviews

  • Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain quality standards.

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including process maps, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Conduct time and motion studies to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to enhance productivity.

  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and equipment to support efficient manufacturing processes.

  • Support the build team to meet production milestones (50/50 split between engineering and production support)

What You’ll Bring

  • Prior mechanical or manufacturing engineering experience (internships and project work considered)

  • Strong skills in CAD (OnShape or SolidWorks preferred) and a familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques (3D printing, machining, etc.)

  • Understanding of DFM/DFA principles and interest in scaling prototypes to production

  • Experience working on consumer hardware, robotics, or compact devices is a plus

  • Hands-on problem-solving approach with ability to iterate quickly

  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working in fast-paced startup environments

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters degree program studying Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer, or equivalent

At Sunday Robotics, we’re building technology shaped by real people — curious, creative, and diverse. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

Even if you don’t meet every single requirement, we encourage you to apply. Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hold back unless they meet 100% of the criteria — we don’t want that to be the reason we miss out on great talent.
