Job Description - Master's Level Case Manager Internship

The YMCA is seeking a Master’s Level Case Manager Intern to join our housing case management team. This internship provides hands-on experience in case management, housing stabilization, and connecting residents to vital community resources. Interns will have the opportunity to strengthen professional skills while contributing to the Y’s mission of strengthening community.


This placement is coordinated in collaboration with your MSW program, with field supervision provided by the Director of Housing Social Services.


Please Note: This is a master’s level social work internship program. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an MSW program. Placement is coordinated directly with your school. This is an unpaid internship with opportunities for professional growth within the YMCA. This is an unpaid opportunity.


Responsibilities




  • Intake & Onboarding (15%) – Assist with interviewing potential tenants, resident orientation, and move-ins.




  • Assessment & Data Collection (15%) – Support staff in gathering initial needs assessments and resident information.




  • Case Management (25%) – Provide support services to a small caseload (5–10 residents) and respond to referrals.




  • Special Events & Workshops (10%) – Help plan and organize housing-related events (e.g., Senior Lunch & Learns, Housing Bash).




  • Transitional Support (5%) – Assist residents with move-ins/outs and referrals for housing or moving services.




  • Referral Resource Database (10%) – Research and connect with external providers to strengthen our referral network.




  • Case Management File Audits (5%) – Review case files for accuracy and completeness.




  • Program Evaluation & Reporting (2.5%) – Contribute to program reports and evaluations.




  • Program Development (10%) – Support the design and implementation of resident-driven events and initiatives.




  • Professional Development (2.5%) – Research training opportunities to support staff development.




Note: Percentages represent estimated time allocation and may vary based on placement.
