2026 Summer Internship | City Relief

Launch your leadership journey this summer with the 2026 Summer Internship at City Relief. This paid internship ($3,000 stipend) runs from June 1 through August 21, 2026, and requires a commitment of 24 hours per week.

Designed for students and emerging professionals who are passionate about service, this immersive experience provides meaningful, hands-on responsibility — not just observation. Interns develop practical skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, and mission-driven execution.

In addition to field experience, interns participate in structured mentorship and learning sessions that deepen their understanding of trauma-informed care, systemic poverty, and compassionate leadership. This is more than a summer role — it’s an opportunity to grow professionally, strengthen your character, and make a tangible difference in the lives of others.

NJ Programs Outreach & Volunteer Support Intern

The NJ Programs Outreach & Volunteer Support Intern will assist the New Jersey Service Team in supporting outreach execution and volunteer engagement efforts across New Jersey. This intern will work closely with the Senior Coordinator to help create organized, welcoming, and impactful outreach environments for both guests and volunteers.

Responsibilities include assisting with outreach preparation and breakdown, supporting on-site logistics, and helping ensure that outreach spaces are orderly, hospitable, and aligned with program standards. The intern will also learn and assist with volunteer check-in processes, help prepare volunteers for outreach experiences, and support post-outreach debrief conversations to foster reflection and engagement.

Additional projects may include updating and organizing documents and workflows in Asana to support operational efficiency, assisting with documentation and data entry connected to outreach participation, and capturing empathetic narratives that help communicate the impact of City Relief’s work in New Jersey. Throughout the experience, the intern will gain exposure to frontline outreach operations, volunteer engagement systems, nonprofit program coordination, and mission-driven communications.
