Position Overview:
The Office of Development seeks a Student Worker to support the Annual Giving program. As an Annual Giving Student Worker, you’ll gain hands-on experience in fundraising, marketing, communications, events, and data while helping to connect the TCNJ community with the impact of philanthropy.
Responsibilities\:
Create and write! Draft content for social media, email, direct mail, websites, crowdfunding campaigns, and other Annual Giving projects.
Help make events happen. Assist with planning, promoting, and supporting campus-wide Annual Giving events, including Day of Giving, Thank a Donor Days, and National Philanthropy Day.
Work with data. Enter, organize, and help analyze data related to social media, email campaigns, fundraising efforts, and other Annual Giving initiatives.
Help connect with donors. Assist with in house mailings, communications, and other projects that help us thank, engage, and build relationships with TCNJ supporters.
Bring new ideas to the table. Research creative ways to engage students and donors, increase support for TCNJ, and grow our student philanthropy program.
Other duties as assigned.
Learning Objectives:
This position is designed to give you real-world experience that you can take with you into future internships, jobs, and careers.
Fundraising 101: Gain an introduction to annual giving, philanthropy, donor engagement, and the role fundraising plays in supporting TCNJ.
Marketing & Communications: Practice creating and adapting content for different audiences and platforms, including email, social media, direct mail, and web.
Creative Design: Develop hands-on experience creating social media graphics and promotional materials using Canva.
Data & Analytics: Learn how fundraising data is collected, organized, and analyzed using Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge/NXT, Excel, research findings, and national fundraising trends.
Event Experience: Gain experience helping plan and execute campus events and engagement opportunities.
Professional Skills: Build skills in communication, organization, project management, collaboration, research, and working with a professional team.
Required Qualifications\:
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with donors and other sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications\:
Interest or experience in marketing, communications, social media, event planning, fundraising, data, and/or a related field.
Experience using Canva, Microsoft Excel, social media platforms, or other digital communication tools.
Strong attention to detail and an eagerness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative.
