Job Description - Operations and Field Services Intern

Position Overview:

Dutch Bros is looking for an individual to join our Operational Excellence team for the summer Emerging Talent Program. This program is a joint role supporting both Field Operations and Field Services, working on shared initiatives that require collaboration across the two teams. This individual will contribute to projects that involve our throughput initiatives in relation to our company WIG and will help to ensure alignment & execution between the two teams.

*For the duration of the program (June 1st - July 31st) housing will be provided, however reliable transportation is needed to and from the program. Additionally, the program is rooted in professional development, full-time employment conversion is not guaranteed.

Location Requirement: 

This role is located in Tempe, Arizona. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

Academic & Professional Background

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Business Administration, Operations Management, or Project Management OR have a minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a shop leader or manager in a related field.

  • Apply foundational knowledge or professional experience to support real-world field operations and field services projects.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Support both Field Operations and Field Services in shared initiatives.

  • Ensure smooth alignment and communication between teams to meet throughput initiatives tied to the company WIG (Wildly Important Goal).

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect, organize, and analyze operational and service-related data.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve processes and outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain reports that track performance against key metrics.

Technology & Tools Proficiency

  • Demonstrate effective use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and inventory/POS systems.

  • Leverage project management software to support initiative tracking and execution.

Process Improvement & Execution

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within field operations and services.

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of initiatives that enhance throughput and efficiency.

Organizational & Project Support

  • Manage project-related tasks with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Support project documentation, meeting preparation, and coordination of deliverables.

Professional Skills Development

  • Strengthen adaptability by working in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

  • Build organizational, communication, and teamwork skills through cross-functional collaboration.

  • Demonstrate accountability and ownership of assigned responsibilities.

  • Operational Awareness Understands basic shop operations, workflows, and service processes; learns to identify gaps or inefficiencies.

  • Communication Skills – Clearly conveys information to field teams, vendors, and internal partners in both written and verbal formats.

  • Problem-Solving – Assists in identifying issues and proposing practical solutions, even with limited context.

  • Attention to Detail – Ensures accuracy in data entry, scheduling, and documentation of operational activities.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork – Works effectively with diverse field teams, supporting cross-functional projects without losing sight of the big picture.

  • Time Management – Balances multiple assignments and deadlines while supporting ongoing field operations.

  • Customer Service Orientation – Keeps the end-user experience (Operators, crew, and customers) in mind when supporting field services tasks.

  • Initiative – Seeks opportunities to learn, asks questions, and proactively assists without waiting for direction.

  • Technology Proficiency – Comfort with tools like spreadsheets, scheduling platforms, ticketing systems, or other field operations software.

Physical Requirements:

  • In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions

    • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings 

  • Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels

  • Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.  Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds

  • Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.

  • Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.

  • Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.

  • Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software. 

  • Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.
