Job Overview: The ROW Adventure Center (RAC) Operations Assistant helps organize and operate the day-to-day operations of RAC trips. This position would be structured with an average of two or three days of guiding then two or three days at Coeur d’Alene office fulfilling administrative and operational duties of the position.

This position requires detailed oversight of all aspects of RAC trips so that they flow safely and efficiently, with minimum stress on our guide and sales staff and produce a positive guest experience. The RAC Operations Assistant performs the administrative duties necessary for the success of the operation, including but not limited to guide scheduling, reviewing trip rosters, coordination of information, troubleshooting resource challenges, logistical support for sales, and any other duties directed by the RAC Manager.   

In order to be successful in this position, the Operations Assistant will be trained in the reservation process, including but not limited to answering RAC sales calls and emails, booking and coordinating trips in RAC’s reservations system, and other sales/admin related duties.

The right candidate will also have an opportunity to train as an Adventure Guide for RAC to help support RAC’s trips as a guide and/or driver.

Schedule: Given the seasonal nature of RAC operations the Operations Assistant should only expect to get one day off per week during the busy months of July and August. The position begins in early May with ands in early September at the conclusion of operations around Labor Day.

Requirements: The Operations Assistant is someone who has shown exemplary organizational and communication ability, accountability and familiarity with ROW’s style of operations.  He or she must have excellent interpersonal skills and must be enrolled in a university program that will provide internship credits for working in this position. We can work with students to design and experience that will meet the necessary curriculum goals and faculty expectations.

Must be a team player, have good communication skills, good logistics/problem-solving skills, excellent ability to get along with others, ability to delegate effectively, willingness to set an example and serve as a role model of ROW policies and systems.  S/he must exhibit openness to feedback and the ability to accept constructive criticism.

Supervision:  This position reports directly to the RAC Manager or the Director of Operations

Other:  There will be a review after the first two weeks of office work as well as two weeks of after the first trip operated.  These reviews will be for the purpose of reviewing performance, see what support is necessary, and set goals for the season.

Training: Sales training: At least 5 days of office-based sales and reservation training.

Guide Training: ROW’s Whitewater Guide School and other activity-specific training (kayaking, biking, hiking).

Operations Training: Operations resource coordination training (scheduling, trip planning, rostering)
