Part-time MFT Student Trainee

Summary

As a part-time MFT Student Trainee, you will work under supervision to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders within the context of marriage and family systems. You will apply psychotherapeutic and family systems theories and techniques while gaining experience in providing services to individuals, couples, and families with a focus on mental health diagnosis and treatment. This is a training role designed to develop your clinical skills, under the guidance of licensed supervisors.

*** This is a part-time, 20- 29 hour per week traineeship that is grant funded for a nine month term to begin in July 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide mental health services to families, couples, individuals, and children using solution-focused therapy strategies, under      supervision.
• Conduct intake assessments, needs evaluations, and therapeutic interventions for individuals and families, including      observation and discussions to gather information.
• Participate in the development and implementation of  treatment plans, with guidance from supervisors and the clinical team.
• Document patient records accurately and according to clinic and licensing standards, under supervision.
• Attend weekly clinical team meetings and engage with other community organizations to broaden your understanding of mental health care.
• Complete other duties as assigned, based on training needs and scope of practice.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

 Education/Experience

• Currently enrolled in or have completed a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related behavioral science field.
• No clinical experience required; this is a trainee role designed to provide hands-on experience and skill-building.

Licenses and Certifications

• Master’s Program Enrollment Verification
• Traineeship Course Verification 

Language Skills

• Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and  verbal, required.
