RIGHT NOW.\n\nJohn Deere is an equal opportunity employer, including disabled \u0026 veterans. \n\nPrimary Location: United States (US) - North Carolina - Cary \nFunction: Product Engineering (CA) \nTitle: Part-Time Student - Software Engineer, Embedded OS - Cary, NC - 120700 \nOnsite/Remote:Onsite Position\n\nNote: Relocation assistance is not provided.\n\nThe Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company\u2019s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.\n\n## Your Responsibilities\n\nAs a Software Engineer, Embedded OS, Part-Time Student for John Deere located in Cary, NC, you will:\n\n * Develop automated tests for John Deere\u0027s Real Time Operating System (RTOS) utilizing python and custom test automation frameworks\n * Create test application software in embedded C to validate RTOS features\n * Deploy unit and integration tests for software features in multiple environments (virtual, hardware, hybrid)\n * Refactor RTOS features into modules to improve deployment efficiency \n\n\n\nThis position is NOT available to students on immigration visas\n\n## What Skills You Need\n\n * Currently enrolled in courses towards completion of a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering; others may apply\n * Knowledgeable in python or similar programming languages\n * Experience with software development workflows\n * Strong communication and teamwork skills\n * Graduation date of Spring 2027 or later\n * Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above\n * Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders \n * Available to work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year\n * Available to work 30-40 hours/week during the summer semester\n * Must be able to commute to the work location in Cary, NC on a regular basis\n\n\n\n## What Makes You Stand Out\n\n * Knowledgeable with C and python programming languages\n * Familiar with git version control and GitHub Actions or Jenkins workflows\n * Ability to read electronic hardware schematics\n * Experience with CAN communications protocols such as the J1939 and ISO 14229 standards\n * Technical experience relating to design and diagnostics of electro-hydraulic systems \n\n\n\nAt John Deere, you are empowered to create a career that will take you to where you want to go while working in an inclusive team environment.
