The PASL Intern position has the primary responsibility to assist in all essential functions for Phigenics Analytical Services Laboratory (PASL).
PASL Intern will report directly to the Microbiology Group Lead
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
This position is intended for the summer of 2026 only.
Essential Functions
Ensures safe working conditions in the laboratory and offices, and supports Phigenics safety team objectives
Has a general understanding of all PASL offerings and operations
Understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Receive and log in samples
Prepare materials for sample processing under direct supervision
Process samples according to SOPs under direct supervision
Record sample location data and results in the laboratory database
Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures, and maintain quality system records to comply with all accrediting agencies
Assist with the receipt, inspection, and stocking of supplies
Performs lab maintenance, including, but not limited to:
Clean lab equipment and wash glassware, vials, and filters
Clean and store materials used for testing
Discard old samples
All tasks require exercise of discretion and independent judgment in important scientific laboratory procedures and operations
Performs additionaltasks as assigned by the Microbiology Group Lead.
Position Requirements
Minimum of 2 years biology or chemistry coursework or experience in a relevant laboratory setting
Strong time management skills
Strong verbal & written skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work overtime frequently, sometimes with little or no notice.
Ability to work with potentially sensitive biological or chemical ingredients
Knowledgeable in the use of computers – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; LIMS

Provide accurate sample analysis results and reports
Ensure quality control and assurance are maintained
Maintain logs and records accurately
Perform laboratory maintenance tasks accurately and in a timely manner
Receive, inspect, and stock supplies in a timely manner
