In order to support the Diocese of Phoenix, this intern position assists the Catholic Social Teaching office in its effort regarding the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), and other peace and justice related work. This includes researching and collecting data/ information on parish programs associated with Catholic Social Teaching and the CCHD mission of “addressing the root causes of poverty in America…” (CCHD website). The intern will also develop relationships with parish leaders, volunteers, and community members to foster education in the area of Catholic Social Teaching. Last day to apply is April 18th.

Essential Functions:

Gather relevant information for Catholic parishes and charitable organizations to better serve leaders, programs, volunteers, and activities in a way that promotes the lived experience of Catholic Social Teaching.
Develop relationships with parish leaders, programs, volunteers, Catholic schools, and parish community members in order to foster education in this area and carry out the mission of CCHD on a local level. This will require visits to parishes and other non-profits for related events or research.
Organize and oversee the Catholic Campaign for Human Development local committee in promotion of and decisions on the CCHD second collection and local grant.
Other responsibilities as assigned including the potential for partnership with other Diocese of Phoenix departments focusing on peace and justice work.

Minimum Qualifications:
BS, BA, or currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Love of Catholic faith and heart for service
Active practicing Roman Catholic who is in full communion with the Church
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
This position reports to the Coordinator of Catholic Social Teaching.
This position will work on a part-time basis from Fall 2025 through Spring 2026. This position will work14 hours a week for 24 weeks total.
Please note, in addition to the normal work timeframe, one virtual orientation hosted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops will take place May 28-30, 2025. This is mandatory. If you do not have the personal technology to attend this orientation, we will provide necessary accommodations.
Physical Demands:
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some local travel is required, as necessary.
