Position Overview:

The PGM intern student is expected to assist the professional staff in every aspect of the golf operation and golf experience. This position will include responsibilities in the golf shop and golf operation as well as exposure to the tournament operation. This position will also assist in coordinating daily play on the practice tee with the practice tee supervisor. This individual will also be accountable for monitoring pace of play daily. This position will work closely with the Head Golf Professional, First Assistant Golf Professional, General Manager, all golf operations staff and other Club departments.

Position Responsibilities:

• Help to oversee all areas of the golf operation to ensure expectations and standards are being met.

Practice Tee

• Monitor the practice tee daily and provide support.
• Assist in the coordination of play each day by:
• Help set the que of play for morning and afternoon.
• Remain in constant communication with professional staff with groups arriving and departing the practice tee.
• Support in maintaining a constant presence on the practice tee to organize the following:
• Hitting stations are neat and orderly
• Golf balls are adequately stocked and presentable
• Practice tee supplies are adequately stocked and presentable
• Monitor and work with professional staff on re-orders of supplies
• Upholding the appearance standard of the range daily.
• Communicate and provide any services needed for the Director of Instruction.

Golf Operations

• Aid with all golfing calendar events
• Support with quarterly inventories (Area of responsibility to be assigned).
• Communicate and assist the merchandiser with any receiving or tagging of product.
• Assist with golf club repair.
• Communicate regularly with the Head Professional, Assistant Professionals, Director of Instruction, Merchandiser, Bag Staff, Valet, Practice Tee, Dining Room Staff, Food and Beverage Manager, Front Office and Housekeeping regarding daily operations and special events. 
• Develop creative ways of improving any part of the golf operation. 
• Play golf with Members and maintain a respectable golf game.
• Aid the Head Golf Professional in every phase of the golf operation.
• Spread hospitality and goodwill to all Members, Guests, and Staff.
• Participate in the Professional Staff education calendar.

This student must take great pride in providing the very best member and guest experience daily. Other responsibilities include golf shop assistance, practice tee and pace of play duties, assisting in tournament operations, inventory management and participation in the professional staff education calendar.
