Phlebotomy Apprenticeship - Full Time

$1,500 sign on bonus for new full-time phlebotomists with a 2-year commitment! $750 sign on bonus for new part-time phlebotomists with a 2-year commitment!

Summary: With supervision of a staff phlebotomist, responsible for delivering high quality customer service for all inquiries including verbally requesting additional information for completion of testing and investigating new or unusual test requests. Collects blood specimens from inpatients, outpatients, nursing home and home-bound patients. Verifies that patients meet test preparation criteria and instructs patients in the collection and handling of non-blood specimens. Sorts and transports specimens, requests, mail and results to appropriate locations. Performs legal blood draws, urine drug collections and breath alcohol testing. Administers glucose-test beverage to patients on order of physician.

Minimum Education Required: High School Graduate or GED

Minimum Experience Required:  On the job training will be supplied for phlebotomy and specimen collection

Licensure/Certification Required:,  Certificate will be supplied at the end of training which will include 100 successful sticks

Note: Patient Service tech that drive company car: Must possess a valid Pennsylvania drivers license.

Skills required (if applicable): Must be able to use computer and have clerical skills to perform tasks. Expectation to learn medical terminology and ICD-10 coding as used in the Laboratory. Must have excellent customer service skills to interact with patients and visitors.
