Job Description - Political Intern


Political Campaign Intern, Colombo for Borough President 2025

North Shore Strategies – Hybrid (half remote, half in person)
Location: Staten Island, NY
Compensation: Unpaid. However, we can work with your college/university to provide academic credit.
Start and End Date: Rolling start date - November 4th, 2025 
Reports To: Campaign Leadership

Team Colombo and North Shore Strategies are seeking motivated and passionate interns to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience in Democratic campaign operations and political consulting, providing an excellent opportunity for students interested in building a career in politics, public service, or advocacy.

About the Role
As a Political Campaign Intern, you will work alongside our experienced staff to support various aspects of our projects, including voter outreach, data management, communications, event coordination, and internal operations. This internship provides a behind-the-scenes view of political consulting, campaign management, and the day-to-day functions of a dynamic political candidate.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with voter outreach efforts, including phone banking, text banking, and canvassing.
  • Support the team in managing campaign data, including tracking voter engagement and volunteer participation.
  • Conduct research on political trends, candidate platforms, and voter demographics.
  • Help organize and promote events, such as rallies, fundraisers, and volunteer recruitment drives.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop social media content, draft press materials, and maintain the digital presence of campaigns.
  • Provide general administrative support, such as scheduling, preparing materials, and coordinating with staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

  • Flexible schedule, with a requirement of 15 hours per week of availability.
  • Current high school and college students, or recent graduates are welcome to apply. Preferably a strong interest in Democratic politics, campaigns, and grassroots organizing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with campaign tools (e.g., VAN, miniVAN) is a plus.
