Job Description - Preconstruction/Estimating Intern

Iconica is seeking a Preconstruction/Estimating Intern to join our team in Summer 2026!

As a Preconstruction/Estimating Intern, you’ll work closely with our experienced Preconstruction Managers and play an important role in connecting design and construction, gaining hands-on experience in the process. Your responsibilities will include:

Collaborating with architecture, engineering, and construction teams.
Attending pre-bid meetings and visiting project sites.
Reading and interpreting project specifications and construction drawings.
Using industry-leading software, such as On-Screen Takeoff, Autodesk Assemble, Excel, Revit, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, Plan-Room, and more.
Building and maintaining historical cost databases.
Coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors to gather and evaluate quotes.
Assisting with project schedule and budget preparation.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

Enrollment in an Architectural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering program or Construction Management program.
Previous internship experience in design-build or construction (preferred).
Leadership roles in extracurricular activities or student organizations.
Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High initiative and eagerness to learn.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
