We are seeking a summer intern to help the Medhub Product team achieve our ambitious goal of "Making Insights Outstanding". In this role, this person will play a crucial part in improving the accuracy and effectiveness of our technology by labeling data, evaluating model outputs, and helping to refine the prompts that drive our Insights. This person would devote 100% of their time to work that supports our development and/ or refinement of the Insights feature in Medhub. They would partnerly closely with PMs, MLEs and other EIQ subject matter experts to execute on the scope of work. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a clinical background to gain experience in the rapidly evolving field of AI and its application in the insurance industry.

Responsibilities:

• Data Labeling: Accurately and consistently label medical information within insurance claims data. This includes identifying key medical facts, diagnoses, treatments, and other relevant details.


• Prompt Evaluation: Evaluate the quality and relevance of outputs generated by our AI models in response to various prompts.


• Prompt Engineering: Collaborate with the AI team to iterate on and refine prompts to improve the accuracy, clarity, and conciseness of the insights generated.


• Insight Development: Assist in the development of "insights" that highlight the most important medical information for claims adjusters, ensuring that the information is relevant, actionable, and easy to understand.


• Feedback Loop: Provide feedback to the engineering and product teams on model performance and areas for improvement.


• Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed documentation of labeling guidelines, prompt iterations, and evaluation results.


• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including AI engineers, product managers, and claims specialists, to ensure the clinical accuracy and utility of our platform.


• Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and consistency of labeled data.

Experience & Skills Needed:

• Clinical Background: Experience in the medical field (e.g., RN) or students in progress in medical, PA, or nursing school (e.g., 1-2 years) is highly preferred.


• Medical Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology, common diagnoses, treatments, and healthcare concepts.


• Analytical Skills: Ability to critically analyze medical information and identify key details relevant to insurance claims.


• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in data labeling.


• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely explain complex medical information.


• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues related to data labeling and model performance.


• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.


• Teamwork: Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical Aptitude: Comfortable working with computers and learning new software applications. Familiarity with data labeling tools or natural language processing (NLP) is a plus.


• Interest in AI: A genuine interest in artificial intelligence and its application in healthcare and insurance.


• Insurance / claims knowledge: Experience in the insurance industry or with medical claims data is a plus.
